How much, in numbers

Ten months, measured honestly.

Every number here is real. I counted them all, from our actual messages, our actual photographs, our actual days. Numbers usually undersell things. These ones only begin to say it.

mahjong table that started it
reasons it was you
The honest reading of these numbers: we have spoken to each other roughly 197 times a day, every single day, for ten months, and neither of us has ever once run out of things to say. 3,815 of those messages were sent after midnight, which is the statistic I am proudest of, it means neither of us ever wanted to be the one who said goodnight first.
And 404 photographs. Not a single one of them staged. Every one is just us, being us, on some ordinary day that turned out to matter.
Every number counted by hand, at 4am, by Aru 💛✨
Where it began

A mahjong table, of all places.

Some people meet in coffee shops. Some are introduced by friends. We met over a game whose entire point is making something beautiful out of the tiles you happen to draw. And out of every hand in the world, I drew you.

Eight. Ten. Fortune. Heart. The tiles knew before either of us did.

the night it all started
The story so far

Every month, every moment.

8 October 2025

First date, Bay Club

The mahjong table introduced us. Bay Club made it official. October 8, our first date, the evening every number on this page counts from. I walked in nervous and walked out certain.

Where it starts. Bay Club, the night of October 8. Press play and watch the beginning of us.

october 8, bay club
8 November 2025

The day I asked

Exactly one month after Bay Club, I asked you to be mine. One month after our first date, a dinner with two menus we barely read, and a question I had been rehearsing for weeks that still came out with my heart in my throat. You said yes, and every good thing since has grown out of that one word.

november 8, you said yes
9 November 2025

Flowers, the morning after

The very next day I showed up with a bunch of flowers, because a yes like yours deserved to be celebrated in person, in colour, with both hands full. You holding them is still one of my favourite pictures my memory has ever taken.

november 9, the flowers
21 December 2025

The birthday surprise

The 21st of December, and a surprise I had been planning while pretending I had forgotten the date entirely. The look on your face when it all came together is the single best thing I have ever pulled off. Watching you blow out those candles, I made a wish too. It is already coming true.

december, the surprise
January 2026

A new year, together

The first January that began with you in it. New year, same us. That turned out to be the only resolution worth keeping.

january, new year with you
February 2026

The month made for us

Our first Valentine's. The rest of the world borrowed the month. It genuinely felt like it belonged to us.

february, ours
March 2026

When new became home

By March, "us" was not new anymore. It was home. Ordinary days, the kind you only later realise were the entire point.

march, home
8 April 2026

Six months

Half a year of you. It did not feel like a milestone. It felt like a beginning that kept beginning.

april, six months
May 2026

Paris and London

You in Paris, me in London. Two cities, one hour and one small stretch of water apart, and every evening the distance folded away the moment the call connected. That month proved something I will never forget: we do not need the same city to be in the same place.

may, paris and london
June 2026

Still discovering you

Eight months in and still finding new things. A favourite I had not learned yet. A laugh I had not heard in exactly that way before.

june, still learning you
July 2026

Counting became building

Somewhere in July the months stopped feeling like counting and started feeling like building. Nine down. Forever to go.

july, building
2 August 2026

My birthday, your gift

I turned 26 with you next to my name in every good thing that happened this year. The best present did not need wrapping. It has been here since October.

Candles, cake, and the year that had you in it. Press play.

8 August 2026

Ten months of you

Ten months since Bay Club, and the mahjong table that led us there. This page exists because some things deserve more than a text. They deserve a small monument, so I built you one.

august, ten months
For the record

Ten things, for ten months.

  1. The way you make an ordinary evening feel like the best plan I ever made.
  2. Your laugh, especially the version you cannot control.
  3. How you listen like what I am saying is the only thing happening in the world.
  4. The fact that you turned a mahjong table into the luckiest place on earth.
  5. How safe the word "us" feels because you are in it.
  6. Your patience with me on the days I least deserve it.
  7. The way every city, song, and food now has a you shaped memory attached.
  8. That you celebrate my wins louder than I do.
  9. How three in the morning stopped being late and started being ours.
  10. That after ten months, you are still my favourite notification.
Every single day

The things that never stopped.

Every night

Talking late into the night

Ten months of conversations that refuse to end. The phone warm, the hour ridiculous, and neither of us willing to be the one who says goodnight first. Those hours are my favourite place on earth.

us, at some ridiculous hour
Every morning

Waking up to you

Your name is the first thing my day reaches for. A message, a voice note, a photo of your morning. Before anything else in the world gets to me, you do. That is exactly how I want every morning for the rest of my life to begin.

good morning, my nyshu
Always

Loving you more than anything

More than any win, any city, any plan I have ever made. If everything else disappeared tomorrow and you stayed, I would still count myself the luckiest man at any table.

the two of us
The little everythings ♥
Movies where I watch you more than the screen. Cuddles that turn a plan into a cancelled plan, happily. Drives with no destination, because the destination was already in the passenger seat. And time, just time, the most expensive thing I own, spent on the only person who makes it feel free.
You taking driving classes in Wadala, three streets from my office, which means somewhere out there you are conquering Mumbai traffic while I sit in a meeting smiling at nothing. Fair warning to the city.
You texting Prateek uncle for the first time about Claude Code and what it can do, nervous for exactly four seconds and then brilliant, like always. Watching you be curious is one of my favourite views in the world.
And the day Uncle and I truly started bonding. Your dad and me on the couch, one laptop between us, talking like we had known each other for years. Somewhere in that afternoon I stopped being the boyfriend visiting and started being family arriving. I will never forget that he made room for me like that.
Figuring out the Vision Pro with your dad, both of us waving at things that were not there while you laughed at us. That is the family I did not know I was signing up for, and the one I would sign up for a thousand times again.
Padel with Tuisha and Gaurav, where losing the point never mattered because I was on your side of everything anyway. Pani puri with your mom, which I am convinced is the real interview, and the best meal I keep getting invited back to. Loving you turned out to include loving your whole world, and your world is wonderful.
And Bindu aunty. Your mom, who fed me pani puri like it was an interview I did not know I was taking, and who I have been quietly trying to deserve ever since. I love her, Nyshu. Genuinely. Not the polite kind of love you are supposed to say about a girlfriend's mother, the real kind, where I look forward to seeing her, where I hope she is proud of me, where I want her to know her daughter is safe with me. Same for Tuisha and Gaurav, who let me lose at padel with such patience that it almost felt like winning. Your family did not have to make room for me. They did anyway. I will never take that for granted.
📍 And Koishi, when it became our favourite spot. Our table, our order, our view, our place. Half the frames on this page were taken there and I would put a plaque on that wall if they let me: this is where Nyshu and Ary kept falling in love, week after week after week.
And the two ams. Talking to you until the night gives up before we do. Ten months of conversations that refuse to end, because neither of us wants to be the one who says goodnight first.
And the job I never resign from: being your biggest fan. Front row at everything you do, loudest voice in the room when you win, first call when you doubt yourself, permanent president of the Nyshu supporters club, membership of one, membership of forever. Whatever you chase, I am already cheering.
Side note, my shona: the universe took 22 years to manifest you into my life, then handed you over at a mahjong table like it was casual. It was not casual. It was the whole plan.
Forever yours, Aru 💛✨

Loving you, hour by hour

Around the clock, us.

All 59,842 messages, mapped by the hour we sent them. This is what a day of loving you looks like. The glowing bar is right now.

🕐
1 pmour loudest hour, 5,582 messages. It is also the hour you first wrote I love you my baby. The data knew.
midnight to 4 am3,815 messages in the hours the rest of the world sleeps. The night always gives up before we do.
8 to 10 amthe sleepy head patrol. Quietest hours, softest messages.
9 pm onwardsthe wind-down: movie nights over call, Love Island, and the long goodnights that refuse to end.
The people who made you

Your family, and what they did to me.

You did not just let me love you. You let me love everyone who made you, and they let me. That is the part I did not see coming, and the part I am most grateful for.

Bindu aunty · your mom
The pani puri was the real interview and I am fairly sure I am still being assessed. I do not mind. It is the best meal I keep getting invited back to. I love her genuinely, my Nyshu, not the polite kind you are supposed to say, the real kind, where I want her to be proud of me and where I want her to know, without ever having to ask, that her daughter is safe with me. Always.
Prateek uncle · your dad
The Vision Pro afternoon, both of us waving at things that were not there while you laughed at us. The couch, one laptop between us, talking like we had known each other for years. Somewhere in that afternoon I stopped being the boyfriend visiting and started being family arriving. And then the day you walked in on him deep in his own coding session and texted me “I was shook. He’s sitting and coding 🤣🤣 What’s going on uno reverse baby.” Best day.
Tuisha · your sister · and Gaurav, jiju
Padel at an hour no human should agree to, where losing the point never mattered because I was on your side of everything anyway. Tuisha, who I would defend in an argument before knowing what the argument was about. Gaurav, jiju, who made it easy in the way only genuinely good people manage. I did not get a girlfriend, I got a whole team, and I did not know how much I needed one.
Dadi · Prateek uncle’s mother
Her blessing is the single thing on this whole page I hold most carefully. I am not a man who says things like this lightly: it felt like being handed something sacred. Celebrating her birthday with all of you, being in the room and not at the edge of it, is a memory I will still be describing when I am old. Whatever this family gave me, I intend to spend my life returning it.
Loving you turned out to include loving your whole world. Your world is wonderful. I am not going anywhere.

Already promised

The plans we made.

Pulled word for word from our chats. Every one of these is a real quote. Every one of these is happening.

  1. "6 months to 60 years soon ❤️🧿 u and me forever!!" — you, at 3am, and I am holding you to it.
  2. Paris, properly this time. "Under the Eiffel tower, while feeding you the Matilda cake."
  3. "Can't wait to eat breakfast lunch and dinner with you everyday."
  4. Rain drives, "every alternative night," plus the early morning rain driveee.
  5. "I'll pick u up for drives" — you said it, Wadala. I cannot wait to be your first passenger.
  6. "Can't wait for you to be chachi." The family already claimed you.
  7. Matching outfits at the weddings. "You can wear a matching lehenga. Well twin."
  8. The 7am padel slot, Tuesdays and Thursdays, booked for us.
  9. Your Forbes plan: "I'll be in 30 under 30 by then you'll be in 40 under 40 HAHAHA." Deal.
  10. The empire: "one day hopefully we'll be huge venture capitalists with our own aum" — and "by the time we're 50, a legacy of 5 generations."
  11. The French Riviera, summer bodies ready by May. One of us kept that deadline. It was not me.
  12. "Dint we decide we'll start training the chef in advance." The future household is already staffed.
  13. Blending our costars, because even the stars need to file our paperwork.
  14. And the big one, in your words, 4 August: "the ideal case scenario is that we spend forever together." Signed. Sealed. This whole website is the stamp.

Life · Faith · Destiny

Written in the stars.

Some things are chosen. The best things are meant.

Sagittarius
Nyshu · 21 December

The archer. Fire. Honest to a fault, allergic to small dreams, born chasing horizons. The sign that makes life bigger for everyone lucky enough to stand near it.

Leo
Ary · 2 August

The lion. Fire. Loyal past reason, proud of exactly one thing above all others: the people he loves. Built to protect what is his.

Fire and fire. The astrologers call Leo and Sagittarius one of the great matches of the zodiac: two flames that do not consume each other, they make one bigger light. I do not know how much I believe in the stars. I know that a mahjong table dealt me the exact hand the universe had been holding for me, and that on October 8 at Bay Club I got to keep it since 21 December 2003, the day you were born. Call it life. Call it faith. Call it destiny. I call it Nyshu.
All my love, your Arupoo 🥰❤️
Sagittarius facts · all of them you 🏹
🏹 Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck, growth and abundance. Which explains a great deal about what happened to my life on 8 October.
🔥 Fire sign, mutable. You burn bright and you adapt. Most people manage one of those.
🎯 The archer never aims low. You have never once let me settle for a smaller version of my life, and I have noticed.
💬 Famously, painfully honest. “Ok chat gpt.” “Dinning kya hota hai. Silly boy.” “10 mins is ur biggest scam.” Exhibits A, B and C.
✈️ Born restless. Paris, the Riviera, the trips still on the list. You were built for horizons and I intend to buy the tickets.
💎 Your stone is turquoise, your colour is deep blue, your flower is the narcissus. Noted, for every December for the rest of my life.
🎄 21 December. The winter solstice, the longest night of the year. The universe made the darkest day of the year the day you arrived. That is not subtle, and it is not an accident.
Leo and Sagittarius is considered one of the great matches of the zodiac: two fire signs that do not compete, they compound. The astrologers agree with me. Good.
The birthdays I now keep 🎂
🎂 21 December · you. The one I plan for months and pretend to forget. The best acting of my life, every single year from now on.
🎂 2 August · me. The first one where the wish and the reality were already the same thing.
🎂 Tuisha. Your sister’s day is on my calendar now, and it stays there. Anyone who has looked after you since before I existed gets a permanent entry.
🎂 Gaurav, jiju. Same rule. Family is not something I intend to be casual about.
🎂 Dadi. Celebrating hers with all of you, in the room and not at the edge of it, is one of the memories I will still be describing when I am old.
🎂 Bindu aunty and Prateek uncle. Two more dates I will never need reminding of. That is the whole point of joining a family properly.
Fun facts, for the record 🎀
🏹 Sagittarians tell the truth even when a small lie would be easier. You have never once let me get away with anything. Please continue.
🦁 Leos allegedly love attention. Incorrect. This Leo loves exactly one audience member.
🎂 Your birthday is four days before Christmas, which means December owes you double presents. I have accepted this debt on the universe's behalf.
🀄 Fun fact: the mahjong tiles for 8 and 10 were on the table the night we met. I checked. Twice.
🚗 The girl learning to drive in Wadala will one day drive us home. I am already the proudest passenger in Mumbai.
🔥 Fire signs are not supposed to be this soft with each other. We are the exception the astrologers write footnotes about.
And above the stars, gratitude. Dadi's blessing on us, which I hold like something sacred, because it is. Thanking God, genuinely, with folded hands, for the specific miracle of you existing at the same time as me, in the same city, at the same table. Gratitude is the whole religion of these ten months: for you, for your family, for mine, for every ordinary day we get. I do not take one of them for granted. Not one.
Yours eternally, Ary ♾️🤍
Two fire signs. One flame. Written before we ever sat down at that table.
This chapter sounds like

It is a love story, baby. You already said yes.

A letter

To my Nyshu.

My jaan. My princess. My baby. My shona. My honey. My Nyshu.

Every name I call you is true, and none of them is enough.

Ten months ago a mahjong table introduced us, and one evening at Bay Club rearranged my whole life. I have thought a lot about how to tell you what these ten months have meant, and the honest answer is that I cannot, not fully. Some things do not fit in words. So I built you this instead.

Here is what I want you to know. You have made me a better human being. Not by asking me to change, but by being someone worth becoming better for. I am more patient because of you. More honest. More gentle with people. The version of me that exists after October 8 is simply a better one, and that is your doing.

You make me feel like I have somewhere to arrive. Like no matter what the day throws at me, there is a person in this world where all of it goes quiet. That feeling has a name, and I do not use it lightly. I love you. Truly, completely, the kind of love you do not recover from and would never want to.

So this is not just a ten month page. It is me telling you, in the most permanent way I know how, that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Every eighth of every month, every birthday candle, every city, every year. All of it, with you.

And thank you. For every single thing. For the first yes and every yes since. For the flowers you kept alive longer than they deserved. For laughing at my worst jokes and calling out my worst days. For every movie you let me miss because I was watching you instead. For every drive, every cuddle, every 3am, every ordinary evening you quietly turned into the best part of my life. For pushing me to be a better man, not by asking, but by being worth becoming one for. For choosing me, on the days I was easy to choose and especially on the days I was not.

Here is the simplest way I can say all of it: I feel alive every single moment I am with you. Not content, not comfortable. Alive. My world does not just include you, Nyshu. It revolves around you, and it turns out that is exactly the orbit I was built for.

Thank you for ten months of the good kind of luck. The seconds on this page will keep counting. So will I.

Yours, for the rest of my life. Ary
